Ramallah—Major General Allam Al-Saqa, the Chief of Palestinian Police, Engineer Awad Allah Awad, Mayor of Birzeit Municipality, signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation. Through this, the municipality grants the police a plot of land designated for constructing a new police station in the town.
This came during a ceremony held at the municipality headquarters, attended by Major General Allam Al-Saqa - the chief of Palestinian Police, Brigadier General Dr. Ali Al-Qaimri - Director of Ramallah and Al-Bireh Police, Engineer Awad Allah Awad - Mayor, with the participation of Dr. Faisal Aranki - Member of the Executive Committee and Head of the Expatriates Affairs Department, and the attendance of the Municipal Council members, Attorney Ismail Al-Nabali, Mr. Riyad Al-Nabali, Mr. Dhiyab Al-Ash'al - Secretary of the Fatah Movement in Birzeit. Representatives of the Preventive Security Service and the General Intelligence Service, heads of municipalities and neighboring village councils, several members of the organizational areas of the Fatah Movement, several dignitaries, and several clerics in the town of Birzeit Municipality.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Engineer Awad Allah Awad welcomed Major General Al-Saqa, Brigadier General Al-Qaimri, and the attendees and praised the role of the Palestinian police in enforcing the law, rapid response, imposing security and maintaining public order in the town of Birzeit and the neighboring cities, which fall within the jurisdiction of the town’s police station, and that signing this memorandum comes within the framework of strengthening the partnership with the police force to provide the best services to the citizens in the town.
In his speech, Major General Allam Al-Saqa stressed the police's keenness to build community partnerships with all civil society institutions, especially local authorities, which are considered a key partner in achieving security and safety for Palestinian citizens, pointing to the continued efforts of the police to establish the rule of law and public order in all parts of the country. He added that building a new center in the town has become an urgent need due to urban development and the increasing population. This will contribute to providing the best service to citizens, enforcing the law more effectively, and rapidly responding to citizens. He also sincerely thanks the Birzeit Municipality, represented by Mr. Awadallah, the mayor, and all municipal council members for this fruitful cooperation.
It is noteworthy that the Birzeit Police Station will serve 18 population centers with a population of 70,000 people.
