Bethlehem – Tuesday, the police met with senior Christian clergy at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation between the police and religious institutions, highlighting the role of religion in promoting peace and harmony within the community.
The police stated that Brigadier General
Murad Qandah, the Governorate Police Chief, visited the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, accompanied by several officers. They were welcomed by His Eminence Metropolitan Benedictos, the Patriarchal Vicar in the city, along with the Bishop of the Church of the Nativity, Father Sbeit, head of the Armenian community; Father Butros, representing the Syriac community; Father Rami, representing the Latin community; and Dr. Jihad Khair from the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs, in addition to other clergy members.
During the visit, they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the police and religious institutions to provide better services to the community and enhance public security.
Brigadier General Qandah stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration with religious institutions and recognizes their significant role in raising public awareness. He commended the Church of the Nativity and its clergy for their initiatives in supporting the police’s mission.
In return, the clergy expressed their appreciation for the police’s efforts in maintaining security and order, emphasizing the need for continued meetings to strengthen communication.
