Jerusalem –Tuesday, the police organized a community day in Qalandiya Refugee Camp, north of the occupied city of Jerusalem. The event was attended by Brigadier General Ma’moun Fahamawi, Director of Jerusalem Suburbs Police directorate; Colonel Louay Erziqat, Police Spokesperson; and Colonel Sanaa Al-Tirawi, Deputy Director of the Community Policing unit. Other attendees included directors of police departments in the governorate, Mr. Zakaria Fayaleh, Director of the Jerusalem Governorate Office, as well as local community leaders, representatives of popular and national institutions, women’s organizations, and peace and community safety advocates.
The police stated that this event is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen communication with the local community, listen to the needs of camp residents, and address public safety and security concerns. Attendees discussed the challenges facing the camp and explored ways to enhance cooperation between the police and residents to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Brigadier General Fahamawi emphasized the importance of the community’s role in supporting police efforts to maintain security and combat crime, noting that stability in the area relies on combined efforts between the police and citizens.
Participants also toured the camp, meeting with residents, as well as families of prisoners and martyrs, to discuss ways to improve camp conditions and meet the needs of its population.
